Position: full sun
Soil: light, moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil
Rate of growth: average
Flowering period: July to September
Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection)The newest member of the ‘Wish Series’ of salvias, this one shares the same prolonged flowering period and prolific nature as its cousins, but the two-lipped flowers of ‘Kisses and Wishes’ are a clear sugar pink. These start appearing in midsummer, topping lush looking mounds of rich green foliage, and they are often still providing colour well into autumn. It’s a good doer for both borders and pots.
Garden care: To prolong flowering remove the flower spikes as soon as they start to fade. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant in spring. Protect from excessively low temperatures and avoid winter wet.
